Stanley Kubrick's Small Boxes box-ska 63 (Original title)
Date: 17 July 2008 (Television)

Country: United Kingdom

Director: Greet Kallikorm, Adam Carman

Synopsis: Short avant garde film inspired by film director Stanley Kubrick. "Opening up in a chess wasteland, planes (from Dr. Strangelove ) fly overhead, their dot trails forming the pattern of the carpet from The Shining. Danny (from the same film), drives over the carpet on his tricycle. He is fleeing from something all-consuming behind him. More planes fly overhead, creating a transition that brings us to a white space. We follow a floating pen (from 2001 A Space Odyssey), and some floating chess pieces, which get sucked into boxes inside a spaceship. Doors open and outside the bombers are still leaving dot trails in the sky. Many of these dots become the squares of a chessboard, while just one of them becomes an eye (from A Clockwork Orange ), into which Danny rides. He falls through a rushing terror sequence with various pieces of Kubrick imagery flying at him. The trip gets faster and faster, until he comes to a stop at the imposing black monolith. It starts to change; chessboards grow out of it. Again, Danny flees, the chess getting closer and closer. He pedals faster than ever before, but his path is blocked by a red elevator. He stops, and succumbs to his fate. The doors open, and an unstoppable torrent of white milk spills out. Danny has been archived." [©Channel 4 Publicity]
